Don’t defer your self-assessment to the last few days of the deadline. I have seen too many people do this. Remember that this is YOUR opportunity to showcase your talents and skills and what you have accomplished and the impact you had on the organization during this performance period. Use actual facts in conveying your performance year. Take the time needed to give your self-assessment the attention it deserves. The time you spend is surely worth it.

  • Contemplate on your performance

Think about your accomplishments, new skills you have learned and experience you have gained to support your job duties and connections you have built. Be specific on how the goals you have accomplished, projects and initiatives you’ve launched have helped your organization.

Include your acclamation, accolades and positive acknowledgement you’ve received. Bring out your areas of growth and development over the performance period. Don’t dwell and reiterate your weaknesses but clarify them from a development perspective. Don’t inflate your accomplishments.

  • Be truthful and factual
